Why the number matters

A low quote is not always the low price

Many advertised LASIK prices are a starting point. Facility fees, enhancements, and follow-up visits get added later. Our price is the whole price.

Base $1,995 + facility fee + enhancement + follow-up Typical, a la carte $4,200+ All-inclusive Filutowski $2,595

What it is really about

The value is waking up and seeing clearly

The price is only part of the story. For most patients this is the last time they think about glasses or contacts in the morning. That is what the number buys.

FAQ

LASIK cost questions, answered straight

How much does LASIK cost in Central Florida?

LASIK at Filutowski Eye Institute is $2,595 per eye, all-inclusive, which is $5,190 for both eyes. That price includes a lifetime warranty and your follow-up care. Financing is available, and most patients pay monthly rather than all at once.

Is $4,000 a good price for LASIK?

It is on the higher end. Filutowski's all-inclusive LASIK is $2,595 per eye. When you compare quotes, ask what is actually included: a lifetime warranty, future enhancements, and your post-op visits should be part of the price, not add-ons. A low advertised number that climbs at the consult is the more common problem than an honest higher one.

What disqualifies you for LASIK?

Thin or irregular corneas, a prescription that is still changing, uncontrolled dry eye, and certain health conditions can rule out traditional LASIK. Being disqualified for LASIK does not mean you are out of options. Many people who cannot have LASIK are excellent candidates for PRK, SMILE, EVO ICL, or a lens-based procedure, all of which we offer. The only way to know is a full evaluation.

What happens 10 years after LASIK?

For most people the correction from LASIK lasts. What changes over time is the eye itself. After 40, nearly everyone develops presbyopia and needs help with reading, and later in life cataracts are a normal part of aging. Neither of those means the LASIK stopped working, and both can be addressed when the time comes.

Does LASIK hurt?

The procedure itself is not painful. Numbing drops do the work, so most patients feel pressure for a few seconds rather than pain. Afterward the eyes can feel gritty or watery for a few hours, which usually settles by the next morning.

Is LASIK safe?

LASIK is one of the most studied elective procedures in medicine. Our surgeons have performed more than 67,000 laser vision corrections since 1990. As with any procedure there are risks, and a thorough evaluation beforehand is what keeps them low. We will tell you honestly if you are not a good candidate.

How long does LASIK take, and when can I get back to normal?

The laser part of the procedure takes about ten minutes for both eyes. We schedule laser vision correction on Fridays so you have the weekend to rest, with a post-op check the following Monday or Tuesday. Many patients are back to work the next day and driving within a day or two once we clear them.

What is the difference between LASIK, SMILE, and PRK?

All three reshape the cornea with a laser to correct vision. LASIK creates a thin flap and has a fast recovery. SMILE works through a smaller opening and can be gentler on the eye's surface, which some patients with mild dry eye prefer. PRK skips the flap entirely and suits thinner corneas and active lifestyles, with a longer initial recovery. Your cornea and your priorities decide which one fits.
