“I decided what kind of doctor I wanted to be during medical school at Cornell. On a rotation in the ophthalmology department, I watched eye surgeons use high-tech equipment to perform microscopic surgery that restored sight, and I instantly knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. Decades later, I still meet people around Central Florida who are seeing better because of the work we do at the institute that bears my name. Of all the rewards of this career, none is greater than having improved the vision, and the lives, of so many.”
